Available for High School Students in the FALL and SPRING Semester!

The South Carolina Economics Challenge is the state’s most prestigious high school economics competition. Each year, over 10,000 students across the United States participate in the contest. The Challenge recognizes exceptional high school students for their knowledge of economic principles and their ability to apply problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to real-world events. The top ten high school teams will advance to the State Economics Challenge Finals and Econ Day at the Darla Moore School of Business. During Econ Day, students are exposed to exciting areas within economics, possible careers within the field, and participate in the South Carolina Economics Challenge Finals with an exciting buzzer round at the end to crown the winners! SC Economics recruits top faculty at USC and Winthrop to engage students in hands on instruction in the areas of: the economics of crime, game theory and behavioral economics, the economics of taxation, agricultural economics, why opportunity costs matter, sports economics, the economics of social welfare programs, and education economics.
