Mission & Strategy

Our Mission

To provide South Carolina K-12 teachers with the training, resources, and support necessary to help them effectively implement economics and personal finance in their classrooms.

Our Strategy

SC Economics provides thousands of free workshops, lesson plans, videos, curricula, and other resources to help teachers understand the fundamentals of economics and financial literacy. Our workshops are taught by highly skilled professors and former teachers who use activity-based and problem-based teaching methodologies to help bring these topics to life in the classroom and make learning fun, engaging, and relevant to students.

Outcome Expectations

Students who possess economics and personal finance decision-making skills will become more effective consumers, producers, and citizens in our society and global economy.

More About Us

SC Economics is a non-profit business-education partnership dedicated to providing teachers with continuing education in economics and personal finance.

SC Economics was established in 1975 to help ensure that all South Carolina students leave high school with a sound foundation in economic principles, an understanding of our economy and how it works, as well as a strong appreciation for the American free enterprise system.

SC Economics aims to help South Carolina's young people learn to think, choose, and function successfully in a changing and challenging global economy. The council believes that the most effective way to make a difference in the lives of young people is by teaching their teachers how to make economic and personal financial decision-making skills come alive in the classroom, and to equip those teachers with excellent standards-based materials.
