Economic Poster Contest and Calendar
Thanks to a generous grant from BB&T, SC Economics has brought back its Economic Poster Contest open to elementary and middle school students. The 16 winning entries will be published in the 2011 Economic Concepts Calendar, which SC Economics sponsors in partnership with the Charlotte Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. SC Economics created its annual Economic Poster Contest as a way for students to have fun with economics while reviewing economic concepts and principles in the South Carolina Social Studies Standards. The contest is an incentive for teachers to include economics in their lesson plans. It demystifies economics and demonstrates that even students in grades 1-8 can learn economics when given the opportunity.
Students are asked to illustrate one of the following economic
concepts in a poster:
•Scarcity
•Opportunity Cost
•Productive Resources
•Goods and Services
•Producers and Consumers
•Specialization and Interdependence
