SC Economics Welcomes Four New Board Members
Four business executives from the Midlands were elected to the SC Economics Board of Directors in May.
Mark E. Ballew

Grant Thornton
Mark is the Partner-in-Charge for Grant Thornton’s Columbia office. He has 30 years of public accounting experience serving public and private clients primarily in the healthcare, manufacturing and trucking industries and is active in Grant Thornton’s Carolinas and National Industry teams serving these industries. Mark graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BS degree in Accounting and completed the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Grant Thornton Partner Executive Program. He has been active on numerous boards, including serving as treasurer and president of the South Carolina Philharmonic and treasurer of the Historic Columbia Foundation. Mark is also a member of the United Way of the Midlands Tocqueville Society Committee.
Christopher “Chris” LindsayPresidentLindsay & Associates
Chris was employed by SCANA Corporation as their local and federal lobbyist for 20 years. In 2001 he retired and started his own lobbying and public relations business, Lindsay & Associates. He works out of offices in Columbia and Washington, DC. Among his blue ribbon list of clients are SCANA, ST&T, BMW and the SC Bankers Association.
William “Bill” Mahoney

Bill has more than 30 years of technology management and appBill has more than 30 years of technology management and applied systems innovation and leadership. His early career experience included Honeywell and Digital Equipment Corporation. Through his employment with Dun & Bradstreet he worked with nearly 1,100 colleges and universities worldwide. In 1995 he was named president of the SCT Utility System division in Columbia. In 2005 Bill became president and CEO of SC Research Authority. In addition to providing services and financial support to over 50 start-up companies at SCRA, Bill formed SC Launch! to facilitate applied research, product development and commercialization programs, and to strengthen South Carolina’s knowledge economy by creating high wage-earning jobs
Kimberly “Kim” PerryRegional Manager and Senior Vice PresidentWells Fargo Advisors
Kim began her banking career in 1986 in the bond department of South Carolina National Bank. She worked in operations, compliance and sales management. Kim left the firm for two years to start the Broker Dealer for the South Carolina arm of First Citizens Bank. She returned in 2008 as the regional brokerage manager for Wells Fargo Advisors. Today she is a senior vice president and regional manager for Wells Fargo Advisors. A 1981 graduate of the University of South Carolina, Kim resides in Lexington. |
